Many Ghanaians are familiar with Mona Faiz Montrage, also known as Hajia4real, as an influencer on social media, musician, and entrepreneur. She is well-known for being a young, wealthy woman in her 30s who has had significant business success. Nevertheless, she had a couple of videos motivating Ghanaian young ladies to work hard and never rely on men to succeed.

Still, it was found that she was acting against her own advice to young people, especially her role models. She was arrested by the FBI on November 10, 2022, in the United Kingdom. She was later sent to the United States to handle her case.

What caused the arrest of Hajia4Real?

She was monitored for years for her role in romance scams targeting the elderly in many countries, especially the USA. She acted in so many ways to dupe many people for romance.

According to a Justice.gov post, she alleged, that Hajia was a member of a criminal conspiracy that specifically targeted older Americans through romance scams. She does these scams to siphon these vulnerable financially and leaves them emotionally traumatized.

She was contracted by her team of criminals as a middlewoman to defraud others. Michael Driscoll, the assistant director in charge of the FBI, stated that Hajia4real was accused of engaging in several romance scams, the majority of which were directed towards senior citizens in the United States.

Ms. Montrage was able to scam people with more than $2M in her bank account in a fraudulent manner. She used several means to attract and defraud people in the name of romance.

The enterprise uses Hajia4real to send text, videos, email messages, and social media to deceive victims into believing that they are in a romantic relationship. Once the group can convince the victims to fall into their trap, they deceive them into sending money to the bank account with a fake identity.

The accounts are controlled by the enterprise that works on the scam deals. She was made to seduce old men for money in return. She sends naked pictures and all forms of video to build trust.

In this case, Hajia4Real and her team had a powerful bond of not snitching after a member was caught. She earns a lot of money from this enterprise of scamming others for survival.

From the scandalous act, she made more than enough in dummy accounts overseas and in Ghana, likely to be used to pay off the $2m scam she made from the American old men.
