Here they’re! 2021 AFRIMA Nominees including Kidi, Gyakie, and Others

All Africa Awards popularly known as AFRIMA is a yearly awards event.

International Committee AFRIMA in collaboration with African Union (AU) established this awards event to reward and celebrate musical works, talents, and creativity around the African continent.

This award is purposely organized to promote African cultural heritage. The first awards were held on December 27, 2014.

In 2014 – 2016, Nigerian hosted three of the award editions and also won the fourth year hosting right in 2017.

Ghana has also got the opportunity to host AFRIMA awards in December 2018 – 2021.

The International Committee of AFRIMA awards consist of five regions; which are Western Africa, Eastern Africa, Central Africa, and Northern Africa which are run by regional directors and 54 country directors.

It is recorded that before an artist can win an award, it needs public votes to determine which artists to get that particular award, experienced African culture, media, and Music Industry, experts.

The awards consist of 37 prizes of two categories which is;

  1. Region-based awards (covering the five African regions).
  2. Based on continental awards.

Regional Awards 

  1. Best Female Artist in Central Africa.
  2. Best Male Artiste in Central Africa.
  3. Best Female Artiste in Western Africa.
  4. Best Male Artiste in Western Africa.
  5. Best Female Artist in Eastern Africa.
  6. Best Male Artiste in Eastern Africa.
  7. Best Female Artist in Northern Africa.
  8. Best Male Artiste in Northern Africa.
  9. Best Female Artist in Southern Africa.
  10. Best Male Artist in Southern Africa.

Continental Awards

  1. Artist of the year.
  2. African Fan’s Favorite.
  3. Album of the year.
  4. Best African Collaboration.
  5. Best African Contemporary.
  6. Best African Electro.
  7. Best African Group/Duo/Band.
  8. Best African Hip Hop.
  9. Best African Jazz.
  10. Best African Pop.
  11. Best African Reggae/Ragga/Dancehall.
  12. Best African RnB/Soul.
  13. Best African Rock.
  14. Best African Traditional.
  15. Best African Female Inspirational.
  16. Best African Male Inspirational.
  17. Best African Disk Jockeying.
  18. Best African Rapper or Lyricist.
  19. Best African Act in Diaspora.
  20. Best African Dance/Choreograph.
  21. AFRIMA Legendary Awards.
  22. Most Promising African Artist of the year.
  23. Producer of the year.
  24. The revelation of the African Continent.
  25. Song of the year.
  26. Songwriter of the year.
  27. Video of the year.

This year’s entry of AFRIMA awards received about 50 African countries across the five regions of Africa and 10 countries from Europe and North America including United Kingdom, Spain, Portugal, France, the USA, and others.

This year’s edition of AFRIMA awards has decided to recognize and honors African Artist music producers, songwriters, video editors, Disk Jockeying, Choreographers/dancers, and movie producers across the continent with a 23.9-carat gold plated AFRIMA trophy.

All African Music Awards (AFRIMA) has released this year’s nominations with African and the World’s very best songs with 8,880 songs. It features about 400 songs from artists in the 30 continental and 10 regional categories cutting across African talents in which Ghanaian artists are part of the nominations.

The likes Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Black Sherif, Kidi, Yaw Tog, Gyakie, Diana Hamilton, DJ Sly, Rex are all nominated for this year’s awards.

Gyakie is leading with three nominations in the “Best Female Artiste in Western Africa”, ” Best African Collaboration” and ” Best Artist group in African RnB Soul category.

Kidi bagged with two nominations with Spiritual featuring Kuami Eugene and Patoranking and his song titled “Touch It” in “Best Male Artiste in Western Africa and “Best Artist, group in African Pop.

Stonebwoy featuring Davido – Activate also nominated in “Best Male Artist in Western Africa”.

Black Sherif with Second Sermon and Yaw Tog featuring Stormzy and Kwesi Arthur – Sore remix got nominations in “Best Artist, group in African Hip Hop.

Sarkodie got a nomination in the “Best African Rapper or Lyricist category” with Rollins and Cigars.

DJ Sly, Rex, and Diana Hamilton were also nominated for ” Best African DJ” and ” Best African Videos” which features Kuami Eugene featuring Falz on Show Body Music video and “Best African Inspirational music” with Adom Wisdom while Dwp Academy, Dancegod Lloyd and Afrobeat nominated for ” Best Artist, group in African Dance / Choreography”.

These are the nominations from our very own Ghanaian Artist whom we are hoping to make us pride by winning an award at the AFRIMA awards 2021 edition.
