SAMMY GYAMFI EXPRESSES CONFIDENCE IN JAMES QUAYSON’S VICTORY IN THE ASSIN NORTH BY-ELECTION

Sammy Gyamfi, the Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is confident about the Assin North by-election which is coming soon. He firmly believes that the people of Assin North will vote massively in favor of justice and support the NDC’s Parliamentary candidate, James Gyakye Quayson.

In a recent statement addressing the Supreme Court’s full ruling released on June 5, 2023, Gyamfi expressed his unwavering belief that the NDC candidate will emerge triumphant in the coming by-election. In his statement on the Supreme Court’s decision to annul Hon. Quayson’s previous election, Gyamfi invites Ghanaians to independently evaluate the fairness of the verdict.

“We have considered the Supreme Court’s decision, but I will urge all my fellow Ghanaians to ascertain for themselves whether this annulment is indeed just,” Gyamfi stated. “I trust the good people of Assin North who have the sovereignty power to choose their member of parliament and also bring about true justice on June 27, 2023. After interacting with many of them over the past few days, I have full confidence that they will not waver in their resolve to vote for Hon. James Gyakye Quayson. I firmly believe they will cast their votes in favor of justice and genuine development.”

Acknowledging the power vacuum created in the Assin North Constituency, the Parliament of Ghana, through the Clerk to Parliament, Cyril Kwabena Oteng Nsiah gave formally notified the Electoral Commission (EC) of the situation. The EC chairperson Jean Adukwei Mensah, then went on to announce the scheduled date for the Assin North by-election as June 27, 2023.

According to the EC’s release on May 31, 2023, nominations will be accepted at the Assin North District Office of the Commission from June 12 to June 14, 2023. The filing fee for each candidate participating in the election has been set at ten thousand Ghana cedis (GHC10,000.00).

As the campaign period for the by-election commences, the Assin North Constituency anticipates an engaging and spirited electoral process. The contest promises to showcase the aspirations of the NDC, with James Gyakye Quayson poised to demonstrate his commitment to the people of Assin North and their pursuit of justice and genuine development.
